CONNECTIONS

IAN WILLIAM STEWART

My Stewart line travelled from the Scottish Borders to Glasgow, Bothkennar,  Larbert and Falkirk. My grandparents George Stewart and Alison Penman are
buried in Larbert Church Yard as are my great-grandparents William Penman and Marion Waugh.

My Penman line arrived in Bothkennar and Larbert in the early 1800s from  Airth. They were all coal miners and lived around the Carronshore area.

My reason for writing is the marriage records for Bothkennar and Larbert. The following records  apply to me:

Great-grandparents:

William Penman & Marion Waugh, 29 June 1866, Larbert.

Great-great-grandparents:

William Howden & Mary Cullen, 16 November 1845, Larbert.

John Aitken & Christina Campbell, 8 December 1844, Larbert.

William Penman & Margaret Welsh, 13 April 1839, Bothkennar.

Archibald Waugh & Marion Penman, 2 March 1837, Bothkennar.

Great-great-great-grandparents:

William Howden & Jean Henderson, 24 May 1812, Larbert.

Archibald Waugh & Janet Brown, 16 November 1811, Bothkennar.

Great-great-great-great-grandparents

James Dougal and Margaret Cant (or Cannt) who were married at
Muiravonside on 10 October 1794.

I have copies of marriage certificates or proclamations for these couples along with death certificates post 1855. I also have indexed all the
censuses from 1841 to 1901 for Penmans and Waughs in Bothkennar and Larbert. My maternal lines are Aitkens (farmers, canal boatman and iron moulders)
from Uphall, West Lothian through Polmont and Larbert to Falkirk; and Burts (nailers and iron moulders) from Camelon. I have similar information for
them.
